PANERA BREAD KNEAD FOR KNOWLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

BENEFITTING THE CHILDREN’S CANCER CENTER

Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program

For over 10 years, Covelli Family Limited Partnership has been partnering with the Children’s Cancer Center.  In 2012, the Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Program was launched in an effort to combine Covelli Family Limited Partnership’s passion for education with their love of the Children’s Cancer Center.  Extended hospital stays and grueling treatments often result in missed days of school and exorbitant medical bills.  As a result, the idea of college is not a possibility for a lot of kids who have battled a childhood disease.  Panera Bread wanted to do something to address both the financial and educational strains placed upon the families and decided to create the Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program.  In the past six years, Covelli Family Limited Partnership has been able to award over $400,000 to deserving students who have been serviced by the center. Additionally, they fund a weekly program held at the Children’s Cancer Center called S.A.I.L. (Students Achieving through Interactive Learning.)  This program includes academic tutoring, exposure to the arts, mind, body and spiritual enhancement and mentoring opportunities.  Volunteers from the community showcase their talents to give the kids a variety of activities every week.  From Hula Hoop for Life to Yoga, this program has been a hit and attendance continues to grow.  Funding for the Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program is provided by donations through the Community Breadbox Program, fundraisers throughout the year and through donor support.
